A1 Organics Operating Greeley GREENCYCLE CENTER
City of GreeleyThe Greeley GREENCYCLE CENTER has been created by the City of Greeley to provide a convenient and environmentally friendly alternative to recycling green waste and other designated recyclable materials.

The facility is available for use by Greeley and Weld County residents, including those in neighboring communities. A1 Organics is the on-site manager under contract with the City.

Why Recycle Green Waste?

Organics as a category makes up the single largest fraction of waste going into landfills today (at times it represents 70% of the waste stream being landfilled). Within the organics grouping, “Green Waste” (which includes yard waste) is the largest fraction. Green waste can be defined as tree branches, logs, stumps, lawn trimmings, leaves, and garden waste. It may also include (as we do here in Greeley) wood used in building and construction such as dimensional woods (2X4’s, etc) and engineered woods (OSB, plywood, particle board, etc). Soil and sod are also materials being landfilled that can often be recycled.

Organics in landfills create methane gas. Methane is 23 times more potent as a green house gas than carbon dioxide. The total cost of landfilling these materials goes far beyond the tipping fee paid to the landfill. 

Recycling these materials creates a sustainability model that results in many benefits including replenishment of valuable organic matter back into our soils, increasing water conservation, and greatly reducing green house gas emissions.

There is a cost associated with recycling these materials, but the benefits provided far out-weigh the cost incurred. It PAYS to recycle and it is the correct and responsible thing to do.

If GREENCYCLE CENTER is closed, use A1 Organics Eaton facility located 1.5 miles west of Eaton on WCR 76.

FACILITY RULES

  • All loads must obtain clearance from gate attendant before unloading. For their safety, children and pets should remain inside vehicle while on the site.
  • Leave no trash. Empty all containers, including bags. Non-reusable containers may be placed in the trash dumpster.
  • If you see inappropriate activity, report the license plate number to 970-590-4768. All information will be kept confidential
  • Contaminated loads will be charged $20 per cubic yard. Site manager reserves the right to refuse any load.

Category II Materials - $5.75/CY

  • Clean Wood Waste – clean pallets, lumber, etc. 
  • Mixed Wood Waste (may contain engineered wood such as OSB, plywood, hardboard, particle board, etc.)
  • Limbs - Brush - Christmas Trees
  • Sod - Topsoil (NO FILL DIRT)
  • Manure

Bagged Material - $0.25/BAG ($5.00 minimum)

Logs/Tree Trunks/Stumps - $15.00/CY
($15.00 minimum) (1 CY = 1 TON)

  • Logs greater than 8” in diameter
    The total of the diameter + length must be approx 8 feet or less - i.e. 2 ft diameter + 6 ft long = 8 ft total length
